Our Mission / Our Values

Just about every organization has a “mission statement”.  Sometimes it is just a word or two that sums up what that organization believes its purpose to be.  At Family First FCU, our mission statement is:

Improving Lives Through Personal, Trustworthy Service

We put a lot of thought into that statement.  We think it represents both the way we try to do business and the way our members expect us to do business.  Being the smallest financial institution in the area, we can either concentrate on growing, or we can concentrate on being the best at what we do.

When you come into the credit union, we want you to leave the office feeling good about the service that you have been provided.  We want you to have total confidence that we will do our best for you and that you can trust us with your financial well being.

Are we perfect?  No more so than most, but if we make an error we will do our best to accept the responsibility, fix it right and fix it quickly.

So having said that… what are our “Values”.  These are a few statements that provide guidance to our staff, management and volunteers.  When the credit union takes an action, offers or changes a product, or becomes involved with other organizations and our community, we ask ourselves if we are acting in accordance with these values:

  • Empower Opportunity – Do we act in such a way to make tomorrow better for our members.  That first loan, a better payment or interest rate, fair and reasonable fees and charges are all ways to provide our members with positive experiences.
  • Provide Convenient, Family Oriented Financial Services – We do our best to be available when you need us.  We aren’t here to provide business services, we are here for you and your neighbors.  The older couple down the street, a young person out on their own looking for financial services for the first time, a couple trying to build for the future, a single parent trying to juggle many responsibilities, a nurse/teacher/student/clerk/tech/or you name it – these are our member-owners.
  • Maintain Financial Integrity – In todays world, integrity isn’t a word that is used much anymore.  Too many people have stopped believing that organizations (especially financial organizations) have honesty and a solid core of integrity.  Too many organizations just talk about “transparency”.  Our members are our owners.  The credit union’s financial strength was built by decades of member-owners entrusting their credit union with their financial needs.  We will do our very best to deserve that trust, now and into the future.
  • Maintain a Sense of Humanity and Community – What on earth is that supposed to mean!  It is a reminder to us that our credit union staff, volunteers and member-owners are people, not numbers, not profit-centers or lines in a budget.  Business decisions also require consideration of the human side of life.  We are part of a community of people, not cars and buildings.  We will strive to make our community better for all.
